If you've never been to Houston, the first thing that my cousin did was to take my family and I to restaurants. My cousin lives far from the restaurants (approximately around 40 minutes by car). The Bellaire district is a well-known one for Asian restaurants, bubble teas, Asian markets.... Jang Guem Tofu and BBQ House There was a Korean restaurant that I really loved, because I asked my cousins if we could go eat somewhere which has Korean food. They took the "Jang Guem Tofu and BBQ House" restaurant. I've never seen a Korean restaurant like that. Normally in France, restaurants are pretty small and expensive and they don't give you a lot of food portions. For example, if you want to have more little side dishes, in France, you have to pay a little bit more whereas in this restaurant (or I think in the USA), if you ask for more, they don't let you pay and give it for free to you. That is the special thing about Korean restauarnts in America. I don't know about real Korean restaurants in Korea, but I hope they would do the same in Paris. But they don't, so that is why I don't often go to those kind of restaurants in Paris. Plus, I don't have a job and I'm still a student. I have to save money for other important things.
Pho Ngon Restaurant This restaurant is my cousin's wife sister's. She has it for more than 15 years now I think. It is a Vietnamese restaurant located in the Bellaire district. Let me show you a little restaurant's description coming from its website. "Experience the taste of Vietnam right here in Houston. From the traditional Vietnamese recipes, that were passed down from generation to generation, to the fresh ingredients used in all of our foods, you will taste the best of what Vietnamese cuisine has to offer. Our signature pho dishes are made from a traditional beef broth that has been simmered and seasoned for hours and made fresh daily. The authentic taste can not be rushed and is how our family has done it for generations. Come experience a piece of Vietnam with us, in a casual and simple environment." Of course, I know a lot about Vietnamese dishes since I'm Vietnamese. I never go eat Vietnamese food in Paris because my mother always cooks for me every dishes. I don't know all of them but the main ones I've been eating since I was born. People will say that I'm not a real Vietnamese because I don't like Phô, but everyone has different taste... I have many favorite dishes such as the Bun Bo Hue, the Banh Xeo, etc. But this time, in Houston, my cousin took me to eat in the Vietnamese restaurant and it was so so good. My cousin's sister cooks really well, she runs the restaurant by herself with other Vietnamese students as waiters. Let me show you what we ate last time at Pho Ngon Restaurant.
