Hue 2016 Firsly, before telling my story about the trip to Hue, where is this city located in Vietnam? Huế is a city in central Vietnam that was the capital of Đàng Trong Kingdom from 1738 to 1775 and of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. You will find below a map showing Hue's location in Vietnam. You are probably wondering what kind of activities I did or which monuments I visited when I was there. Let's start from the beginning. After flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue, my uncle, my aunt, my parents and I took the taxi to a hotel called "Hong Thien 1". It was not very far from the airport, so we had time to rest a little bit and then visit the city more during the night. It was my first time there so I was really looking forward to seeing many wonderful things of the ancient dynasty and to see where my uncle lived when he was really young (since he's from Hue, he was really happy to be back to his hometown). There were many things that I appreciated about the hotel. First, the receptionist was a woman and she welcomed us really well; by the way, I really liked how she dressed up. She wore the traditional Vietnamese dress that we call "Ao Dai". I prefer this kind of clothes, to make a good impression towards the guets than people who are not welcoming the guests very well and who don't smile to them. The second thing that I really liked was the swimming pool. Actually, since we came there by night, the pool was closed but they told me that I could come back the day after in the morning to swim. So, the next day, I woke up really early and dived into the pool. The sun was already up and it was an outdoor pool so I could sunbathe at the same time and enjoy the swimming pool. I was really living my best life. Of course, after swimming for about 1-2 hours, the hotel offered breakfast. However, if I remember well, you have to pay for it. Unfortunately, they don't give it for free... I think we stayed there for 3 nights and I could taste nearly the best dishes for breakfast. They even give you fresh fruits and vegetables, coming directly from the market. What I got to eat was fried noodles with a fried egg (It was my favorite dish for the breakfast so I ordered it twice or three times in a row; yeah you probably wonder how my stomatch could fill that much food, me neither, I don't really know how I did...). Here is the plate of fruits: pieces of watermelon, pineapple, passion fruit and a mini banana. The banana is the only fruit I didn't eat because it doesn't really match my taste. Eating fresh fruits in the morning is the best thing to begin a day, especially in a country where the weather is really hot.
The last thing about this great hotel was the view. My hotel room was at the 4th floor, and I really liked the landscape, even if it was not near the sea or near the mountains, I liked the Vietnamese mood and the neighbourhood. Everyone was smiling, welcoming you as if you were a family member, which I loved and which I really missed. It really changes from Paris. In Paris, sometimes people are not very welcoming you and nobody smiles even if you live in a residential neighbourhood. That is why I prefer travelling in Asian countries.
